Advantages of Vertical blinds
There are many advantages and disadvantages to vertical blinds which are also known as Track blinds. The style the buyer is looking to use in his or her house or the commercial establishment plays a huge role in the choice of the blind eventually.
Choosing the type of blind, vertical or horizontal, can be a matter of style favored by the buyer. The nature of the blind makes it similar, in terms of flow, to drapes and curtains which also flow from top to bottom. But they are unlike drapes because they collect less dust over the course of time and can generally be cleaned without bringing them down. Drapes on the other hand will need to be brought down when heavy cleaning is required.
In case such blinds get damaged for any reason, they are very to replace. There is no need to replace to entire blind. A number or interior decor stores sell replacement blinds to replace the vertical section that got damaged.
One of the big advantages of this type of blind is coverage. The amount of surface in terms of height it is able to cover makes it a healthy option. It prevents UV rays from entering into a room. Besides coverage it also provides a great unobstructed view of the outside. When used to cover the huge sliding back yard door, it becomes immediately clear that it is very easy to use as well as it not required to open the entire blind and yet have complete access to the height of the door thereby making it easier and quicker to move out into the open.
The height of such blinds makes tall windows look very elegant as it helps cover the entire height and width of the windows. Smaller windows also look bigger than usual as the height of the blind can flow right up to the floor where the window exists.
Noise can be a big deterrence for such blinds for some though. These window blinds open with a swinging action and the vertical columns collide to make more noise than desirable to some people. There is great wear and tear as a result of that motion. Even a small wind causes the blind columns to collide with each other and create some annoying noise levels for some of us.
Privacy could potentially be an issue as well with these window blinds. There may be gaps at the ends of such blinds where the blind meets the wall. Because of this, undesirable light from the sun outside may creep in and provide a sub-optimal dark environment that may be desired at times. It could also result in allowing others to peek in to a room thereby compromising on privacy very severely. Other types of blinds such as horizontal blinds appear to hug the ends of windows and doors more effectively and hence managing to create a more private environment and at the same time preventing light from entering from such gaps.
As seen above, there are advantages and disadvantages that go with various types of blinds. Style is a big decision point when it comes to selecting vertical blinds against the horizontal one. Eventually it will also depend on the length and breadth of various windows and doors that the buyer is planning to provide coverage for.
